The extra mile

Morrisons support our Lifting Chair campaign
A huge thank you to The Morrisons Foundation who have provided valuable funding to purchase a Lifting Chair for our Weymouth Community First Responders.
Equipping a Community First Responder with an emergency lifting chair enables early assistance to a patient who has experienced a non-injury fall, and reduces potential complications associated with long lies. This also helps ensure the most appropriate allocation of emergency services resources.
Falls are a leading cause of emergency calls in the over 65’s and account for 10-25% of emergency ambulance responses each year for adults aged over 65 years. 1 in 3 people aged over 65 and up to 1 in 2 aged over 80 will fall at least once every year. By 2025, it is estimated that there will be over 3.2 million falls in people over the age of 65 in England alone.
Thank you Morrisons for helping us go the extra mile for the communities served by the South Western Ambulance Service!
